DIY Twine Pole for my Monstera Adansonii
I’m making a twine pole for my monstera adansonii. I considered buying or making a moss pole but they’re fairly expensive and I don’t love the look of most of them. I’ve also read a lot of reports saying they become bug hosts which I don’t need!
The twine pole won’t be as humid and isn’t permeable so any aerial roots won’t actually be able to grow into it but I’m ok with the tradeoff.
I’m using a piece of 1” PVC we had in the garage and wrapping it with twine we already had. I used a bandsaw for the first time to cut the PVC to the length I wanted and then hot glued the twine to the pole. I discovered that hot glue dries really quickly so you have to only glue a little at a time so the twine actually sticks.
It took me a few different short work sessions to wrap the pole but it wasn’t hard and I love the way it turned out! The adansonii is a little taller than my pole but it’s already looking happier - leafing out more and the existing leaves are turning up toward the light.
